
FASCINATING
Created for aerospace and later pushed to its limits in motorsport, it is a material built for places where failure is not an option. An extreme material, carbon/carbon is one of the most fascinating composites of our modern era. In order to use it for the first time in watchmaking the field of watchmaking and magnify its unique texture Lorige undertook three years of research and development.

THE
Before it reaches a wrist, Carbon/Carbon has already faced fire, force, and speed. Inside a racing brake system, it absorbs immense heat and pressure. Its surface changes with every lap. Its texture becomes a record of what it has lived through. At Lorige, that story does not end when the race is over. It begins again. Through an in-house patented process , Carbon/Carbon is reworked into unique watch cases, preserving its raw texture and the marks of its time on the track.
A LONG AND
Carbon/Carbon carries the memory of the track, shaped by heat, friction, and speed. Lorige keeps that history visible, letting the material’s raw texture guide the final case. Then begins a process that cannot be rushed. More than thirty hours are needed to shape, refine, and finish each case before it can hold the 403 parts of a Lorige timepiece. The densification process involves alternating heat treatment and vacuum cycles, followed by seven consecutive shaping stages using tools developed for advanced industrial processes. As in racing, there is no room for error.


3 YEARS OF
Carbon/Carbon is a material never used in watchmaking before and even less so made for the scale or precision of a watch case. To bring it into watchmaking, Lorige spent more than three years developing its own patented process. The challenge was not only to reshape the material but to keep its strength, character, and unmistakable texture intact. The result is a first in watchmaking: a case made from a material that has already lived at the limits of performance.
